To create an environment in which everyone can be attracted to and have a wonderful experience. By having a sports complex in Red Hook and bring more and more tourist to the neighborhood and make it the place to visit by New Yorkers.

 6.  What are the program elements that you see included at this point in your building? (may  evolve once more research is done)

A variety of fields combine with spectacular views to the city. A place designed for the comfort and enjoyment of the people. Spaces such as studios, gym and a small cafe.

  1. Hello Daniel,
Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on the choice of program as per the site and the clear focus of the project.

However, if I am to critique on any aspects, I would just like to advise you on the the following:
    1. Icon-ism: The site has a potential of being iconic and socially symbolic and representative of the community. Most of the examples you have chosen to study are also quite iconic in their form and design. Since you have chosen the program to be a sports center, it should be a hub an symbol of the thriving community around not just in terms of program but even the form. An if you do choose to make it iconic, would it come from the existing social fabric, or would it be an alienated structure amidst the context? This could be something to think about and incorporate in the design process.

    2. Contextualization and Representation: one of the most essential question I would like to ask is, would your structure be site specific and context specific or would the design work equally fine on any other similar site in the world. Constantly asking this question during the design process will help you to make your design inherently belonging to site by incorporating and reacting to the existing context.

    3. Design as catalyst: How do you propose to change or help the change and growth of the community through your project? How do you envisage the role of your structure in changing dynamics of society. Would your sports center just facilitate a place for training and leisure or would it also inculcate a sense of community, pride and belonging among the different age groups in society.
