Precedents ( Hierarchy + Symmetry + Geometry )

  1. These are beautiful diagrams in a clear presentation. I appreciate your text explaining your thoughts and ideas behind each building. This allows us to quickly understand the building and how you have analyzed them.

  2. Hello Daniel,

Again, very good diagrams. You definitely have great representational skills.

However, I would like to reiterate the point I have made in the previous comment about the analysis part of the diagrams. From what I figure, you have volumetrically demarcated the hierarchy in volumes and the symmetry axis. However, it would be interesting to see the reason or rather the impact of this hierarchy and symmetry on the functioning of the building. Do you see a certain pattern in the hierarchy? Or does your observation and analysis conclude that a certain presence of symmetry or probably the absence of it results in a certain kind of efficiency in circulation or functioning of the programs and various facilities? Would you also have to follow certain basic rules in your design, or would you be able to break away from the evident patterns and still achieve an equally efficient working building?
Also, what is the hierarchy of the programs? Do certain programs like bigger grounds gain more importance and have larger impact on the design of the overall design? Can you reverse the hierarchy of the programs? How do the necessity of certain kind and amount of light and ventilation for specific programs govern the positioning in the overall planning? What is the effect of this on the symmetry of the structure? How are these programs placed in respect to the surrounding context and circulation and not just wit respect to each other? Maybe these questions would help you strengthen your approach to the project ... Hope it is helpful!
